Relocation to the Cambridge Research Park

Apr 28, 2003

Drake Electronics, a subsidiary of Vitec plc, the international communications systems group, is the latest company to join the growing technology community at Cambridge Research Park.

The company, which is relocating from Welwyn Garden City with a staff of more than 90, has taken a 10 year lease of Building 7400, a 1,776 sqm (19,120 sqft) office/R&D facility, making it the largest commercial letting in the Cambridge area over the past twelve months.

Building 7400 enjoys an attractive lakeside setting with a private jetty, terrace and magnificent views over the adjacent woodlands and Nature Reserve.

Commenting on the letting Ian Coull, Chief Executive of Slough Estates which owns the Research Park said: “Drake Electronics is the fifth company in the last twelve months to relocate to Cambridge Research Park. The Research Park is chosen for its traffic free setting and the quality of the buildings, which together create an unrivalled business environment. The Park is now well established and there are further opportunities to expand the high tech community which includes occupiers such as NTL, Diomed, Synaptics, Daniolabs, Elecheck and Viatris.”

Daniel Burns, Managing Director of Drake Electronics said: ?Drake considered all the technology parks around Cambridge before selecting the Research Park. Slough Estates have provided a remarkable working environment ideally suited to technology companies and I am confident that it will provide an excellent base from which Drake will continue to grow.?
