Community

Objective: To remain actively engaged in the communities in which we operate, and contribute to community vitality through employee time as well as financial contributions

Everyone at SEGRO believes that forging strong links between business and society supports vibrant, healthy and sustainable communities.

Through its operations, SEGRO is a major influence on the built environment. As a result, what the Company does can have an impact on the local communities who live and work around SEGRO buildings. Maintaining and enhancing good community relations are therefore essential for good business.

Highlights of SEGRO’s approach

  • SEGRO believes that involvement in the community is integral to its core business and tends to be focused on those locations where we have a presence. Strong relationships with these communities are important to the business, involving regular consultation with local governments and business organisations that serve the communities
  • Our help to local bodies is both financial and in kind. Employees are actively encouraged to become involved in and support community initiatives through our employee volunteering scheme. At local and national levels, we work closely with organisations fostering; education, the arts, recreation, welfare, children & adults with disabilities, elderly people, environmental initiatives and good community relations
  • Every two years, SEGRO employees nominate a charity of the year and for 2008 they have nominated Dogs for the Disabled as the focus for employee fund-raising activities
  • The SEGRO Charities Committee considers applications from charitable organisations and in 2006, donated over £617,000 (in cash and in kind) to community, civil society and other groups.
